Online Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology Consults (Telehealth)
Telehealth (also known as Online Consultation) allows you to consult one of our Physiotherapists or Accredited Exercise Physiologists by phone or a video call.
Telehealth can play a very important role in ensuring the continuity of care when you are unable to attend the clinic for your regular appointment. In 95% of cases, your Online Consultation is able to replicate a majority of the activities that you would complete when you are face-to-face when in the clinic.
Telehealth consultations are not only convenient, they also ensure the safety of others by reducing the spread of illness.
What to Expect in Your Initial Online Consultation
Online consultations have been shown to have similar benefits to in-clinic consultations in developing lifestyle behaviours to get you exercising and decrease your risk of long-term chronic diseases.
We need time to:
- Undertake a comprehensive assessment to provide a clear diagnosis and label contributing factors
- We go through the assessment, any reports or scans, diagnose your injury and condition
- Prescribe exercise so you can continue the treatment at home
- Create a step-by-step treatment plan to help prevent it coming back (Prevention is better than cure)
- Liaise with other members in your healthcare team
The Difference, Who & What We Treat
The Difference: How is Online Different to In-Clinic
The process is exactly the same as being in the clinic. Really! We get your details and any relevant information prior to the consultation. We go through the assessment, any reports or scans, go through exercise technique and prescription, develop an exercise program and provide a plan to get you back to what you love doing.
Exercise prescription and programming is an essential part of online consultations and we do this by using PhysiApp. This means you:
- Can get notification reminders to complete your exercises to stay on track
- Will have exercise videos – no stick figure drawings
- Have the ability to message your physio with comments or questions
- Have the ability to track your adherence to the program
